Guided Choreographies for the Living and the Dead

2019–2021

“Shape[s] a choreography for a moment that demands rethinking the stakes of human contact at both the molecular and the systemic level.” —Miriam Felton-Dansky

Beginning in 2019, Driscoll began a new series of audio works titled Guided Choreographies for the Living and the Dead. Some of these choreographies have been presented to audiences live in theater and experienced collectively, others as part of her solo exhibition Come On In at Walker Art Center, and still others offered online to be listened to at home.

Each of the works in the series offers a distinct prompts—akin to those she might give to a performer—in the form of an intimate guided meditation. Throughout the series, Driscoll’s guiding voice conjures states of longing and seizes desire as she takes listener/participants on a journey that reflects upon power and presence, yearning and absence. Driscoll invites you to reconceive your body and its limits in these audio experiences that lead you into a private dance.

Experience one of the works at home.
Please find a quiet and comfortable place to listen, put on headphones, and allow 15 minutes for this shared journey with the artist.
